WALKING DEAD rumors!
Rumor has it that Amazon is shipping pre-ordered copies of WALKING DEAD this very week! Let me know if you get your copy!
As WALKING DEAD’s release is imminent, let me once more point toward Rabbit Tricks, a Walker Papers short story that fits between COYOTE DREAMS and WALKING DEAD. Enjoy, if you haven’t read it!
In non-Walker Paper news, there’s notification at Scooper Speaks that RUNNING WITH THE PACK, a werewolf anthology featuring stories by myself and fellow Luna author Laura Anne Gilman, as well as many others, will be out in June 2010. (Coincidentally, that’s the same time DEMON HUNTS, book five of the Walker Papers will be out! You’ll be able to buy them both at once! Oops, that made it Walker Papers news, didn’t it?)
THE PHANTOM QUEEN AWAKES anthology has been delayed two months, and will now be out in December 2009 instead of October.
More details as they develop. :)

I got my copy today at Borders. Now I can’t decide if I read it right away and then have to wait a year. Or hold off for a little while and then read it. Oh who am I kidding I’ve missed Jo so much I’ll read it right away.

I found Walking Dead at Walden books today. With it being released early will that mess up your first week sells?

My copy of walking dead was shipped yesterday. Can’t wait. Is there going to be an audio book of walking dead as well?

Yes, but that’s completely out of my control. Bookstores are heeding the street date less and less, it seems, unless it’s a major release.

Yep, released in September, I believe!

I hope I don’t mess up your first week sales…but i wanted to read this before I went back to school. I picked it up today and I just finished – I loved it, even though it made me want book 5 right now! I won’t say more about what I liked, for fear of spoiling somebody, but I will say thank you for writing these books. They flat-out rock.

Don’t worry about it. It’s more important that people are finding and buying the book than it is that I hit bestseller lists.
Not, you understand, that I’d hate hitting bestseller lists… :)

*Really*? I didn’t think the e-book would be released until September 1. Huh. Well, I’m glad you liked it! :)

As I said above, don’t worry about the first week sales. I’d rather people were finding and buying the book than I was hitting bestseller lists…and I don’t know that I would be anyway. (If _everyone_ who’s bought URBAN SHAMAN bought the latest book in the first official week of release, I would, but I don’t know how to contact 40,000 people and say “Go forth *now*!” :))
I’m glad you liked it. *beams*

Got mine! I was wondering if Amazon was hitting the crack pipe a little hard or something. I didn’t know that bookstores were less and less likely to follow street dates, but this gives me hopes for the whole mess of books I pre-ordered that are supposed to come out in October. I was going to resist this and finish Harry Turtledove’s excellent Guns of the South, but the Confederate States of America will just have to wait until I finish Walking Dead!

I found Walking Dead in Walden’s yesterday, to my surprise! I got it and I finished reading it tonight. I love it! It’s really good and I am so glad to be back in Jo’s world in Seattle!
So…. how’s book five coming along?? :o)

*snorts* :)
Actually, the bulk of the work on book five has been done for months. I’m starting on book six right now. :)
Glad you liked WALKING DEAD!

Depends on the books, really. If they’re big important books (like Harry Potter), bookstores will be very precise about the street date, but stuff like mine? The greater percentage will just put the books out when they arrive instead of holding it in stock for two weeks.
Hope you like it!

June 2010… so near and yet so far… :o)
Thanks for these wonderful books!
Oh, and I seem to remember that Gary wasn’t too prominent in Coyote Dreams, so I am glad he is back on board…. I think he is my favorite character over than Jo. I wish he was younger, so they could get together…. ;o)

I got mine two days ago! And thank goodness you posted this… sometime my preorder had been canceled…
I love it very much, especially the girl who I didn’t expect to see again
Amazon seems to release books early more often than Barnes and Noble… is it something to do with mailing rules?
And I already want the next book, bt this was Fantastic! : )
thanks a bunch : )

*beams* I loved putting her in this book. Glad you liked it!
I’ve no idea what Amazon’s thing is, really. I’m sure there’s some esoteric explanation, but noooooo clue here. :)

I just received my copy today. Thank you for sending me to Book Love Affair. Not only did I discover a great site, but I won the book give away. Psychic powers or not, I can’t wait to read Walking Dead. I read the first chapter a couple of weeks ago and was hooked. I’m heading to my favorite chair and my family won’t hear from me again until I’m done.

YAY!
I’ve waited so long for this book and I’m very happy with it. I got my copy last week and just finished it today. It was awesome!! Jo’s grown up a bit and the tension between Morrison and Jo has been ratcheted up a notch…yum!
Can’t wait for the next one! (Tell me Jo and Morrison have a ’serious’ moment and then have a serious make out session) :D
Anyway, thanks for writing. I thoroughly enjoyed!
I bought the first book in the Negotiator series to hold me over :)

Hi! I picked up my copy yesterday at a Borders in Tampa. I checked my facebook and someone said they had them on the shelves and I ran by the next day. Reading as we speak!!! Thank you early releases!

Just finished Walking Dead (for which I have been waiting since well before I knew it was likely to exist–more or less since immediately after I finished Coyote Dreams about a week after its release) and you have once more done a great job.
You were actually worried about slipping back into Jo’s head? It honestly seems you never left. She’s got such an incredibly different voice and presence than Margrit, and it amazes and pleases me how beautifully you pull off writing two exceptional, strong, and wholly unique women. Though to be perfectly honest, I’m always going to prefer Jo over Grit, because Jo’s someone who’s naturally weird enough I’d actually know her. You had me in silent snickering stitches over the llama faces.
Now, I’m very happy to hear the next Walker Papers installment is arriving with less intervening time. Because while I was most certainly satisfied by Walking Dead, the ending did leave me feeling a little stymied. Talk about a fast wrap-up! I know some readers hate “unnecessary” continuation after the climax, but I’m a firm believer in the let-down, gentle or other. Otherwise it’s a little like coming down off a high, fast ride so fast you’re expelled from the seat and out of the park before your stomach’s come back from the last peak. And you’re killing me over Coyote! I’m crossing fingers, toes and eyeballs hoping he’s not just up and dead, but I’m also willing to safely bet you’ve got more complicated things in store than that.
…Aaaand, I just realized I may be edging into spoiler territory with my enthusiasm. Let me try and mentally back up to a safer distance.
It was great seeing the whole major cast again, and god, you really know how to make a girl wish she had her very own Gary Muldoon. It was also wonderfully fantastic to see certain returnees from books past, and to be teased with all those… possibilities. What a wistful feeling, even vicariously.
So, with all my warbling and rambling, what I’m saying is you did damn fine work, dear, and I can’t hardly wait for the encore.

Yay! I made you beam! : ) I really did love to see her! If she is in the next book, I’ll be happy, and if not, that’s okay too. She deserves a bit of a rest.
Now I want the next book even more, but I can wait.
Good luck with everything you are working on! and thanks a bunch : )
