Breaking radio silence!

Sorry for the sudden burst of silence. After NYCC I went to Alaska, where my writing computer suffered a critical hard drive failure (fortunately, I had backups) and so for a week I had no computer and then I spent another week trying to get the new one set up so it wasn’t totally annoying. Now it’s only partly annoying…

NYCC was a great success. I met a lot of terrific people, many of whom were readers who went out of their way to come up to New York and see me, so that was really fun and exciting. I got a lot of business done, caught up with old friends, and walked a truly astounding amount. :) So a very good weekend in all!

The “No Dominion” Kickstarter campaign is going great guns! With ten days left, it’s just $350 away from the Rollover Reward of a limited trade paperback edition of the novella, which will be exclusively available to people who buy into the Kickstarter campaign! My readers are *amazing*!

Also, to my total delight, WAYFINDER has been nominated as one of the Romantic Times’s best fantasy novels of 2011. We’ll find out in May if it won, but I’m really pretty thrilled that it’s been short-listed! :)

NYCC Schedule

The following is my schedule. Not to repeat myself, but let me say for the seventy-third or soth time that professional commitments & opportunities trump everything else, which means there are four items from Friday morning onward on this list that are sacrosanct: the Del Rey Panel, the NYCC-assigned book signing, & the two publisher-supported book signings. Everything else I’ll do my best to make it to, and to be timely, but make no set-in-stone promises. :)

10-11am: video interview scheduled with pretty much my very first fan ever

Promotional Events!

Thursday, March 31st at 6:30pm, I will be signing and reading from SPIRIT DANCES, book six of the Walker Papers, at Chapters Books in Dublin, Ireland! I hope to see you there!

Starting Monday, April 4th, I’ll be guest-starring over at Faith Hunter‘s blog, as Jane Yellowrock and Beast interview Joanne Walker. Throughout the week, we’ll be posting story snippets, and on Friday, April 8th we’ll be giving away three prizes on to readers who have commented on both Faith and my sites over the course of the week. Prize #1 is a complete set of the Walker Papers (Urban Shaman, Winter Moon, Thunderbird Falls, Coyote Dreams, Walking Dead, Demon Hunts, and Spirit Dances). Prize #2 is a complete set of the Jane Yellowrock books (Skinwalker, BloodCross, and Mercy Blade {Raven Cursed will be out in January 2012, but it’s not part of the prize package!}). Prize #3 will be an electronic edition of the upcoming Jane Yellowrock/Joanne Walker crossover story, out sometime this summer! So we hope to see you around all week, and look forward to chatting with you!

Anchorage visit

I have been unable to arrange a book signing in Anchorage.

Instead, I’ll be at the Kaladi Brothers coffee shop next to Title Wave Books on Northern Lights Blvd from about 1:30pm on Tuesday, December 1st, to about 5:30pm. I hope to see people there, and if you want to bring books for me to sign, please feel free. Otherwise, just drop by to say hello!

Fairbanks book signing!

There will be a book signing event in Fairbanks, Alaska!

Where: The Fairbanks Barnes & Noble

When: 1-4pm on Friday, November 27th, 2009

What: I will definitely be signing, and my books will be for sale. I may do a reading or two, since I’ll be there a while.

Further details: The Fairbanks B&N is leaning toward mostly bringing in copies of WALKING DEAD to sell. I’m also encouraging them to stock up on first books in all of my series, but if you’re in the Fairbanks/North Pole/Nenana/etc region and would like books other than URBAN SHAMAN, WALKING DEAD, HEART OF STONE and THE QUEEN’S BASTARD, let me strongly encourage you to call then (907-452-6400) sooner rather than later to put an order in for the books you want. It’ll encourage them to have copies on hand, and they’ll be ordering books for the signing next week, so you’ll want to move briskly!

Seattle book signing!

There will be a book signing event in Seattle!

Where: The University Book Store on University Way in Seattle, Washington

Where, in greater detail: This will be a Fireside Event, taking place downstairs on the far side of the cafe, rather than in the usual event area.

When: 7-8pm on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

What: I will definitely be signing, and my books will be for sale (cash registers close at 8, we may be permitted to hang out a bit longer afterward to finish signings & things).

I may do a reading. I may do a reading of the first chapter of DEMON HUNTS, book five of the Walker Papers, due out in June 2010. Let me suggest you turn up on time if you want to hear that. :)

Further details: Me doing a signing in Seattle means there will be, at least for a time, signed books available for ordering within the continental US. If you can’t make it to Seattle but would like me to sign books and have them sent to you, order the books through the University Book Store website, and make certain to put in the Comment Box that you would like signed books, and exactly how you want them signed.

Chapters Bookstore & CE Murphy go international!

It is now possible to order signed & personalized copies of my books through Chapters Bookstore in Dublin, Ireland.

The catch to this is it’ll mean paying international shipping rates, which are stiff. On the other hand, I get to Dublin a lot more often than I get anywhere else, so it’s the best way to guarantee getting a signed copy of one (or many) of my books.

We’ll run this essentially the same way Neil Gaiman runs his Dreamhaven signings, which is to say I’ll drop by Chapters when I’m in Dublin and sign anything waiting for me, and the books will subsequently be shipped out. There will not be a pattern to this, although I will make a specific and deliberate effort to stop by Chapters at the beginning of December so that if anyone wants to send somebody a signed CE Murphy book for Christmas, it’ll get there in time.

Chapters doesn’t actually have an online ordering system, so to order my books you’ll need to contact shop@chapters.ie. To quote the lads at Chapters, One point to mention is that if people want personalised inscriptions they would have to pay in full in advance to protect us in the event of changes of mind etc. but I wouldn’t see that as being a major issue.

They *usually* have copies of all my books in. That said, however, it often takes about 10 days to get books from America to Ireland, so if you’re thinking of Christmas gifts, I would highly suggest getting orders in by mid-November in case they’re out of anything.

…and while I’m on the shameless self-promotion wagon, wouldn’t an Ireland 2010 calendar be a nice Christmas present for people? :)

Promotional News

I will be in London at the Forbidden Planet on 18 September, 2008, from 6-7pm, to sign copies of HANDS OF FLAME (and any others of my books people would like me to sign!). I’m really looking forward to this signing, and hope a few England-based readers might show up and say hello. :)

A few months ago, The Falcata Times interviewed me, and that interview is now up in the Falcata Times #7. My interview starts on page 34, but there are a *ton* of other cool authors in there as well, so go read and enjoy!

Also, I’ll be writing a short story for a Morrigan Books anthology this fall, for publication sometime (I believe) in 2009. Looking forward to that, too–writing shorts is fun, and I only do it when people ask me to. :)
